The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in partnership with industry experts here in Australia have developed new technologies and standards which enable the production of long life, high performance Australian Medical Sheepskins. The innovative Australian Medical Sheepskin Rug consists of between 4000 to 6000 wool fibres per square centimetre. CSIRO studies reveal a pressure reduction of more than 50% lying on these individually aligned fibres compared to a mattress. This allows user to have greatest comforts in any resting position. With the natural properties of Australian Merino wool, it regulates temperature on contacted body part, relieve pressure and absorbs moisture to make skin feels dry and cool.

As required of between 4,000 and 6,000 wool fibres per square centimetre, this rug is highly breathable and well ventilated by its nature. It is suitable for all season as it is cool for summer and warm for winter. Hence it is ideal for bed ridden patience to use 24/7.
This rug is designed for hi-temperature laundering up to 80ºc for thermal disinfection. It can be machine washed on wool/delicate cycle, as well as tumble dry no more than 60ºc. This is not allowed on any of the ordinary sheepskin product.
Australian Merino is best of its long and soft wool. The delicacy of the wool fibres helps to reduce strain on skin and shear forces on the underlying tissue. This is particularly important for people with medical condition.
Wool fibres can absorb moisture up to 33% of wool weight without feeling wet. This helps to keep skin feeling dry and cool at all time. This alleviates discomfort to immobile users from perspiration and rapidly dissipate moisture away.
